Students Ready to Go Global: Educational and Motivational Seminar on Edutrip to 3 Countries with Gus Faiz
YAHQI Islamic Boarding School once again presented an inspiring activity through an Educational and Motivational Seminar as preparation for the 3-Country Edutrip program (Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia). Held in the main hall of the Islamic boarding school, the event was enthusiastically attended by students and their guardians. A warm and enthusiastic atmosphere filled the room from the beginning, demonstrating the students' strong enthusiasm for this cross-border learning experience.
Preparing a Generation of Students with a Global Perspective
This year's edutrip program is more than just a tourist trip. The YAHQI Islamic Boarding School has designed it as an international learning experience that will broaden students' horizons about culture, education, and global developments. Students are expected to gain firsthand experience in the three destination countries—Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia—while honing their independence, self-confidence, and cross-cultural communication skills.
In his remarks, the Islamic boarding school leader emphasized the importance of mental, spiritual, and intellectual readiness. "Students must be bold and carry Islamic values wherever they go. This educational trip is the first step in introducing them to the world and strengthening their identity as a knowledgeable and moral generation," he said.
Gus Faiz: From Students to Students
The highlight of the event was the presence of Gus Faiz as the keynote speaker. The student, who is also a student of the State University of Surabaya (UNESA), has received the extraordinary opportunity to serve as an ambassador for a fully funded program in three countries. In his motivational session, Gus Faiz shared a moving story about his life.
"I'm also a santri (Islamic student), just like you," Gus Faiz began. "People often look down on santri. Many assume they're only good at reciting the Quran and have no other achievements. But I want to prove that santri can also achieve."
He shared his struggle to successfully participate in a fully funded study abroad program—an international experience he achieved at no cost. "Thank God, I had the valuable opportunity to study in three countries with a free program. I also managed to earn a silver UNESA entrance ticket and was the only outstanding student in the Psychology Study Program," he said, to loud applause.
Gus Faiz's message was clear: students have great potential as long as they are willing to work hard and don't hesitate to dream. "Never feel small. Students can also go global," he added confidently.
Enthusiasm of Students and Guardians
Hundreds of students and their guardians seemed immersed in the motivational atmosphere. The Q&A session was interactive; students vied for the opportunity to ask for tips on obtaining scholarships and their experiences studying abroad. Many of them said they were inspired to start preparing to follow in the footsteps of international achievers.
The parents of the students also expressed their high appreciation. They felt proud and more confident that their children had ample opportunities to develop not only domestically but also on the global stage.
Facing the World with Spirit and Prayer
