Isra Mi'raj: The Story of the Great Journey

That night, the city of Mecca slept in silence. The stars hung quietly in the sky, as if waiting for something great to happen. Amidst that silence, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had just gone through the most difficult period of his life. His loved ones had passed away, and his preaching was full of trials.
At such times, Allah SWT gave us an extraordinary journey.
The angel Gabriel came to meet the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, carrying a luminous white vehicle called the Buraq. In an instant, a journey that usually takes months took place in just one night. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was taken from the Grand Mosque to the Aqsa Mosque—a blessed holy place.
Upon arrival at the Al Aqsa Mosque, a heart-stopping scene unfolded. The previous prophets had gathered. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stood in front of them, leading the prayer. That night, he led the messengers of Allah, as if to emphasize that the message of Islam was the perfection of all previous message.
But the journey is not over yet.
From the Aqsa Mosque, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ rose again with the Angel Gabriel—penetrating layer after layer of the sky. In every sky, he met the prophets: Prophet Adam, Prophet Isa, Prophet Moses, Prophet Abraham, and other prophets. Until finally, he arrived at a place that no creature could reach except with Allah's permission: Sidratul Muntaha.
It was there, in the majestic silence, that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) received a direct command from Allah SWT: to pray. Initially, it was fifty times a day, a testament to the importance of this act of worship. However, due to Allah's mercy and the Prophet Muhammad's concern for his people, the command was reduced from fifty times a day to five times a day, with the reward remaining immense.
As dawn broke, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) returned to Mecca. The night had passed, but its message was eternal. Prayer is not merely an obligation, but a gift. It was a meeting between a servant and his Lord, born of the greatest journey in history.
To this day, every time we stand to pray, we are actually remembering the events of Isra Mi'raj, the night when the heavens opened, and Allah SWT called the people of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to come closer to Him.
