Wisdom in the Isra Mi'raj Event

Isra Miraj is one of the greatest events in Islamic history. This event is not just an ordinary journey, but a great miracle that Allah SWT gave to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as a form of strengthening faith and consolation in difficult times.

Understanding Isra and Miraj

Linguistically, Isra means journey by night. Miraj means ascent or ladder. In Islamic terms, Isra Miraj is the Prophet Muhammad's journey during one night from the Grand Mosque in Mecca to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine, followed by the Mi'raj, or ascent to heaven, to Sidratul Muntaha.

This incident occurred by the will of Allah SWT, as explained in the Al-Qur'an surah Al-Isra verse 1.

سُبْحٰنَ الَّذِيْٓ اَسْرٰى بِعَبْدِهٖ لَيْلًا مِّنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ اِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْاَقْصَا الَّذِيْ بٰرَكْنَا حَوْلَهٗ لِنُرِيَهٗ مِنْ اٰيٰتِنَاۗ اِنَّهٗ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْبَصِيْرُ

Glory be to the One Who took His servant ˹Muḥammad˺ by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque whose surroundings We have blessed, so that We may show him some of Our signs.1 Indeed, He2 alone is the All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

The Journey of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

During the Isra event, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was accompanied by the Angel Gabriel and rode a vehicle called Buraq. At the Al Aqsa Mosque, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ performed prayers and was the imam for the previous prophets.

After that, the Miraj occurred, the Prophet Muhammad's journey to heaven. He met prophets in every layer of heaven until he finally reached Sidratul Muntaha. It was here that the Prophet Muhammad received direct orders from Allah SWT.

The Command to Pray Five Times a Day

The greatest lesson from the Isra' Mi'raj is the obligation of five daily prayers for Muslims. Originally, the obligation was 50 prayers a day. However, through the mercy of Allah SWT and the request of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Allah SWT reduced the number to five, with the reward remaining equal to fifty.

This shows how important prayer is as the main worship and pillar of religion.

Wisdom and Lessons of Isra Miraj

The Isra Miraj incident taught many valuable lessons, including:

1. The power of Allah SWT is unlimited and surpasses human reason.
2. Prayer is a very important form of worship and is a direct link between the servant and Allah.
3. Patience and faith will always receive Allah's help.
4. Muslims are invited to strengthen their faith and obedience in worship.

Isra Miraj is not only a historical event, but also a reminder for Muslims to keep their prayers and strengthen their faith. Through this event, Allah SWT showed His love for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and all Muslims. Hopefully we are among the servants who are able to take wisdom and apply it in everyday life.
