The Spirit of Independence: YAHQI Islamic Boarding School Holds a Ceremony on August 17, 2024

Saturday, August 17, 2024. To celebrate the anniversary of our beloved nation, students united in a flag-raising ceremony to celebrate Indonesian Independence Day. This ceremony served as a form of respect and appreciation for the heroes who sacrificed their lives and bodies for the nation's independence.

Unlimited enthusiasm even in a limited space

Although the ceremony was held in a limited space, it didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the students. The ceremony proceeded solemnly, from the raising of the Red and White flag to the end.

Emulating the fighting spirit of the heroes

"We must emulate the fighting spirit of our nation's heroes. They sacrificed their lives and bodies for the independence of our homeland. Now it is our responsibility as the nation's successors to continue the legacy of this struggle. The struggle is no longer about fighting colonialism and physical oppression, but rather colonialism through technology, mentality, culture, and more. Therefore, we must not let the flame of struggle we carry be extinguished," said the ceremony inspector.

The role of students in the current era

The flag ceremony commemorating Independence Day is not merely an annual ceremony, but also a moment of reflection for all students. In today's era, students are also crucial for playing a role in society. Moreover, the knowledge gained from Islamic boarding schools can serve as a bulwark against colonialism in the modern era. Religious knowledge, student morals, and a warrior mentality are some of the things that can be a plus for students. The spirit of unity, hard work, and love of the homeland are values that are incompatible with the lives of students at Islamic boarding schools. Therefore, we should be able to learn the lesson that this hard-fought independence must not be in vain. This struggle must continue and become a strong foundation for a more advanced and prosperous Indonesia in the future.
